How to Install Android 2.3 Gingerbread on Samsung Galaxy S
How to Upgrade your Samsung Galaxy S to Android 2.3 Gingerbread
Requirements
1. Your phone must be rooted
2. Your /data must be converted to EXT4 by the Voodoo lagfix
3. Complete backups are recommended before you attempt this
4. You must have Busybox
Downloads
1. CM7.tar.gz
2. nsonsgs-unsigned-cwm-update.zip
Steps to Install Android 2.3 on Galaxy S:
1. Copy the file CM7.tar.gz on your SD card
2. Run these commands
adb shell
su
cd /data
mkdir gingerbread
cd gingerbread
busybox tar zxvf /sdcard/system-dump-as-root.tar.gz
mkdir data
busybox cp -a /efs efs
sync
reboot recovery
3. Unzip nsonsgs.tar.zip to nonsgs.tar
4. Flash nsonsgs-unsigned-cwm-update.zip via CWM recovery.
Your Samsung Galaxy S should now be running Android 2.3 Gingerbread.
To revert back to Froyo, just flash your Froyo ROM back using ODIN. It must support the EXT4 FS.
