Currently the new firmware update is available only via PC applications, no OTA. You can update your Nokia E6 and X7 firmware by using Nokia PC applications like Nokia’s Software Updater or Ovi Suite. The Nokia E6 and X7 does have UDP (User Data Preservation), but its always good idea to backup all of your personal data before updating the device firmware.
