An user-friendly and extremely powerful Live CD

Chakra LiveCD is an extremely powerful and user-friendly Linux Live CD and/or operating system based on the award winning K Desktop Environment and on the GNU/Linux distribution for connoisseurs: Arch Linux. It features a graphical installer, automatic hardware detection and configuration, and of course some more tools and extras. Just check it out and tell us what you think.

Known working environments/hardware:

* VirtualBox (display detection could be flaky, better set the resolution manually in the advanced startup options)
* VMware (there could be some problems with input hardware due to the recent update of Xorg)
* Acer Aspire 1640Z (i915 graphics @ 1280x800, intel ipw2200 wlan, realtek nic, intel hda sound)
* Intel Core2 E8500 / ASRock G43Twins-FullHD / 4GiB / Intel G4x (X4500) / Intel HDA Sound / Realtek 8111B nic
* AMD Sempron 3400+ / MSI Mb / 2GiB / Nvidia 6600GT

Here are some key features of "Chakra LiveCD":

· KDE 4.3.1 + extra apps and components
· a lightweight and clean hardware detection and configuration framework (work in progress)
· graphics hardware detection and automatic installation/configuration of proprietary graphics drivers
· tribe, our Qt4-based installer, featuring a postinstall backend written completely in bash
· arxin, our system configuration application for Arch Linux (work in progress)
· shaman, our ALPM/Pacman package management frontend

Requirements:

· a Intel Pentium II or higher processor for the i686 version
· a 64Bit-capable processor for the x86_64 version
· 256MiB of RAM for running the liveCD system and 384MiB of RAM for the installation (the more the better)
· around 3GiB of available hard disk space (the more the better)
· a screen capable of 1024 x 768 or higher resolution
· a reasonably fast internet connection, e.g. no modem (you wont have fun with this)

The usability of the Chakra LiveCDs we added support for some important features:

· print, and configure printers
· complete management of optic drives, now you can extract sound from CD/DVD's and write medias with k3b and virtually mount iso images
· drop-down konsole tecnology with Yakuake
· management of dial-up modems and broadband USB 3g/HSDPA with knetworkmanager & modemmanager
· a lot of new languages were added to the boot menu, to automatically configure your keyboard and locale settings in live mode

Bilgilendirme için teşekkürler. Ama sanırım biraz hatalı bilgilendirme var. Kaynaktan göremedim ama benim bildiğim kadarı ile Chakra artık Arch tabanlı değil. Kendi yollarından bitmeye başladılar.
Ayrıca şunu da belirtmekte fayda var, bu geliştirici sürümleri GTK içermiyor. yani Firefox, flashplugin gibi gtk tabanlı uygulamalar yok içinde. Bundle sistem diye bir sistemleri var ama o da daha tam olarak oturmuş değil. Şimdi 0724 sürümünü indiriyorum. Uzun zamandır Linux kurmadığım için merak eder olmuştum zaten. VirtualBox ile deneyip duruma göre gerekenleri buraya yazarım yeniden...

Eski Chakra live cd Arch üzerine kurulydu doğru, ama Phoix geliştirme sürümü ayrı. Alpha5 ten sonra bıraktılar Arch'ı...
Forumlarını kurcaladım ama vazgeçtiklerini açıkladıkları konuyu bulamadım. Ama Arch-linux Based ve Chakra Linux Based olarak ikiye ayrılmış durumda forum... Muhtemelen hala ayrılar. Hatta ilk Kdemod paketlerini bırakacaklarını açıkladıkları zaman bayağı bir korkan olmuştu "ne olacak şimdi?" diye. Ama bir süre daha Kdemod paketlerine destek vereceklerini açıkladılar...
